In 2016 and 2017, I participated as a team captain in NBC's Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge.
Season 1 - I was captain of 'Team GRIT', my team consisting primarily of ninja warrior athletes. We ended up coming in 2nd place in the competition.
Season 2 - I was captain of 'Heart of Texas' - who had an emotional backstory, and an unbreakable bond. I like to think we were underestimated as a team, and ended up again coming in 2nd place in the competition.
It's actually funny how little I've really talked about these experiences to anyone other than my close friends. I think it's honestly because there are just too many directions I could go with it if I tried to sit down and start typing. Things like 'The Differences Between Spartan: UTC races and a Spartan Sprint', or 'Why Spartan UTC is more of an endurance event than it seems' are future posts that come to mind. Hopefully I'll start chipping away at them in the near future!
